Princess and the Cow?

Image
Yesterday evening was Princess day at Chick-fil-a.  I know some people have a problem with them but I would like to say, that they made my daughter and every other little girl dressed up like a princess, fairy, angel, or just in regualar clothes feel special last night.  They decked the place out in pink and purple bunting, all the workers were dressed up as princess.  Also on Monday nights kids meals are free so it was good for our finances.. ;) Laurana (aka: Merida from Brave) was on cloud nine. She got to meet Miss Kentucky 2012.  The princess cow was there, also her friends Tinkerbell (Bella Mauck), Aroura (Gracie Gibbons), and the ballarina (Jacqui Williams) were there to play.  They had a blast.  We had great chicken, then went for a ride in a horse drawn carriage.  got our nails painted pretty princess pink.  then played on their play place. Merida and Aurora with Sir Cow Prince Jareth and Princess Laurana Ballarina, Aror...

Blessed

Image
Cindy Loo Whoo I just watched "The Help".  I don't know what other people took from it but the thing that had the biggest impression on me was that I am extremely blessed that I get to raise my own kids.  I get to tell them how wonderful, beautiful, smart, funny, kind, talented, creative, and all the other things they are every day.  Even when they are in daycare, I still get them up, dress them, tell them how much I miss them while I am gone. I love the fact that when I walk in the room, my kids are happy to see me.   That when Jareth is tired he wants to sit in mommy's lap and snuggle.  How when Laurana falls down she comes to me to tend her wounds. What I didn't do it :) I am glad that Brad is a part of my family.  He is a dad that plays with the kids, tells them how wonderful they are.    I love that Daddy has to chase the "lions" from her room every night.  Tonight brad isn't home and she came out and said ...

A wonderful girls night.  A couple weeks ago, Andi Moore, Brittany Mauck, Shelley Tucker, Jordan O'dounghue and I went to Summerfest.  (what use to be called Shakespeare in the park) at theLexington arboretum.  They were preforming the musical Legally Blonde.  I haven't had that much fun at a muscail in a while. (probably cause I havent' been to a musical in 3 years. :). The singing was okay, the dancing was okay, and the live music was hit or miss, but over all I really enjoyed myself.  I have now listened to and learned many of the songs.  and Laurana always asks for "what you want" mommy. :)

It has been a busy couple of weeks since July 20th.  Jareth has gone from crawling every where to walking every where.  which means that several bookshelves have had to be redecorated. :) Mommy and Jareth running the Bases Laurana and Rosy Red On the 22nd we went to a Cincinnati reds game.  It was a lot of fun.  The kids lasted for about 3 innings then Laurana could only think of finding Rosy Red and getting a picture.  We walked around found her, and then got in line to run the bases.  It was very fun, Sean and Jordan went with us I think they had fun to.  Jareth liked all the sounds and has been watching baseball on TV with daddy and I think he really appreciated seeing it in real life.  The only down side was that Jareth had gotten a little hot, and for those of you who have a red headed fair skinned child you know this means he turned red.  I went to the cool down room to let him cool down a little and at l...

Louisville zoo

Andi and Laurana  with the Giraffes  So Wed. we went to the Louisville zoo.  Andi, Nana, and a friend of Andi's went with us.  It was alot of fun.  Laurana was so much bigger she really seemed to see all the animals.  She still says her favorite animal at the zoo is the giraffe. As it turned out, Andi knew the guy doing the elephant show and we got to go in and touch the elephant.  It was so cool.  No wait.. it was 102 heat index.  so not cool, but the kids and a blast.  They were very well behaved and I think everyone had fun.   In comparison, the Cincinati zoo has a much better petting zoo (you actually get to feed the animals at Cincy) lousiville had 3 big goats and one baby goat.  and if their had been more people we wouldn't have gotten to pet them at all.   However there were quite a few animals that we got to see much closer up at the Lousiville zoo. I also feel like it is more of a circle so you do...

Things Laurana says 1

We pulled into the McDonald's parking lot to return a red box.. "Mommy, I think we should go into the Old McDonalds, buy me a pink drink, and when I am done let me play on the playground." Being in a hurry, I said "I will think about it while I return the redbox." I get out of the car return the red box and get back in. "mommy, did you think about it? did you think about how wonderful it is for me to play on the playground." Me: "for ten minutes" Laurana: "okay, ten minutes..after I get my drink mommy." we go in get a drink, and while we are standing in line she starts dancing hten announces to everyone waiting to get thier food. "I get ten minutes (holding up correct number of fingers).. not five minuites (five fingers)." I guess she wanted to make sure I didn't forget the deal. Of course she did all of this while wearing a pink polkadot dress with a poofy skirt, cause she had insisted that she was a prince...

Turning 34..no 28 I said 28

Cause this Princess has her own sense of style So my daughter is more like me than I realized.  Tonight she didn't want to go to bed so she "had to go potty" I found her there twenty minutes later (I got distracted by her brother who was crying and has been sick) sitting on the potty reading a book.  I said "Whatcha doing".  "Shhhh mommy, go away I am reading..I can read here I don't have to go to bed." Wow, I remember a time in school when I would get up and go to the "potty" to read cause it was past my bed time and well they can't say you cant go to the potty. :) It has been a funny kind of week.  Wed. was my 34th birthday.  I came to the realization that some how in everything that has been going on in my life, that i don't have a great opinion of my own self worth.  I feel as if I don't meet expectations, that I am not good enough.  Brad was very wonderful to sit with me while I cried about this, only to...

Birthday Surprise

Image
So for Brad's 40th Birthday we had a surprise party.  I am pretty sure he knew about it ahead of time, but he played along because he loved me.  We had a great group of friends here (Eric and Phyllis Fuchs, Mike and Sonya McDonald, Nana and Papa, Kenneth and Tiffany Banks, Brittany, David, Adeline, and Bella Mauck, Jordan and Sean O'Doughnah(yeah i can't spell), Andi Moore, Mike Gabbard,).  If he knew he acted well surprised.  There was strawberry shortcake, and some other great foods.  We watched an 11 minute movie of brad's life (way fun, wish the sound worked better when projecting to the TV).  then everyone broke up and played games.  It was the kind of party Brad loves.  Not just sitting around talking to each other, but with a plan, and activities. I am so Proud of my husband and his 40 years.  He is smart, talented, and the love of my life.  I think he is a wonderful father.  He plays with the kids even though...
