 Summer is supposed to be a time of relaxation.  Time to sleep in, do nothing all day, get caught up on home projects and then read all the books you wanted to read during the school year but didn't find time to read.... right, someone tell me that is right.. but reality is often very different.  This year it didn't help that Summer school started the Monday following the end of school teacher work days and for me lasted three more weeks.   Then there are all the birthdays, two of my kids in June on the weekends when I wasn't in school teaching kids that didn't want to be there any more than I did.   Summer school finally ended, and that was the same week my mom bought her new house, oh and my father's first birthday in heaven.  Followed by my favorite week of the year when I best friends come from Kentucky and spend a whole week of playing games and going to the beach with us.  Note at this point no housework has had time, no real relaxation...

Welcome to the Dance  Have you ever wondered what it looks like to dance the edge.  I do it every day.  I am so many things with so many hats and every day I dance the edge of keeping it all together.  I think as we start again I want to give you a quick look at who I am as a person, a few of the hats I wear each day.   Mom          I am a mom of three rainbow babies, ranging in age from twelve to six.  They keep me on my toes and I am sure there will be blogs that are about dealing with the raising of three children so different.  I have a responsible, sweet daughter in middle school, learning about boys and christ.  A fiery red-headed 10 year old who is extremely smart but misses social cues. and last but who need the most attention right now a six year old who is putting everything I know about raising kids to the test every day.  Wife  I have been the wife of my wonderful husband for 16 ye...

The Lord Provides In July of last year, we moved to Henderson to take my new job as a teacher.  We didn't want to move, we had good friends, and family, and we were "comfortable."  However God made it very clear that were were supposed to move.  That he was not going to provide for us unless we were willing to leave our comfort and move where he called us. So that I could have this job that we felt the Lord leading me to, Brad quit his job.  Since we have moved brad has not been able to find a job that would make enough to warrant putting the kids in daycare. All that being said, we are living off my salary, and once they take out insurance, retirement, and various other things you really don't have a choice about, we can not pay our bills.  Our income does not cover the cost of a four person family. (which is a complaint about what we pay teachers for antoher time).  It would seem that at some point we would not be able to eat, or put gas in the car....

New years, Okay It didn't let me type until today. yea, finally. Going to try and keep up a blog this year, even though it is more for me than anyone else. 2013 just ended. New for us this year is that we have moved to Henderson, KY. I am now teaching at a new school.  I teach special education 3rd-5th grade.  I love my job.  It has the usual teacher trials, paper work, figuring out what is expected, parents, students, and the usual joys, starting over, students, parents, watching the kids learn.  I look forward to the rest of this school year.  Now that we have moved where God wants us, and he could not have made it more clear, we hope that this job will be a permanent position somewhere I can grow, make new friends, and eventually retire from.  Here is praying. I miss my old friends, I still talk to them on Facebook and over the phone, but it is different.  I am trying to make new friends here, but it takes time to find a best friend. You know ...

So if I only post on here once a year will you forgive me. :) Things are okay.  I moved to another town in Kentucky for my new teaching Job.  I am very happy in our new house.  Brad is still looking for a new job.  The kids are doing pretty well.  Laurana is now four and looking forward to school next year.  Jareth is trying to potty train, but not really getting it too well.  and still doesn't talk to much.

Okay Updates. October was great and busy.  I still don't have a job, which means I am doing lots of craft and baking projects.  Money is still tight but we have been blessed by being able to go to alot of free events.  Thanks to our friends who have tickets and share.  Brad and I are both doing National Novel Writing Month, Write a novel in a month challenge So far I am ahead and brad is behind.  Brad's grandfather died on Halloween, Thanks to the people who helped watch the kids that day and later in the week for the funeral, visitation, and other things.  He had a very honorable funeral complete with 21 gun salute for his service in World War II.  He told us once how he got to sleep in Hitler's bed.  (they had occupied one of Hitlers houses during the war and made camp in it.)  Please pray for our family as we adjust to life with out grandpa Harry, also pray for Grandma Juanita as she loses her husba...

7 years.  On Monday Oct. 1st we will have been married 7 years.  In some ways I can't believe it has been seven years. Yesterday evening was Princess day at Chick-fil-a.  I know some people have a problem with them but I would like to say, that they made my daughter and every other little girl dressed up like a princess, fairy, angel, or just in regualar clothes feel special last night.  They decked the place out in pink and purple bunting, all the workers were dressed up as princess.  Also on Monday nights kids meals are free so it was good for our finances.. ;) Laurana (aka: Merida from Brave) was on cloud nine. She got to meet Miss Kentucky 2012.  The princess cow was there, also her friends Tinkerbell (Bella Mauck), Aroura (Gracie Gibbons), and the ballarina (Jacqui Williams) were there to play.  They had a blast.  We had great chicken, then went for a ride in a horse drawn carriage.  got our nails painted pretty princess pink.  then played on their play place. So that puts the Chick family at 4/4 married kids.  I am blessed with a family that is big and now it is even bigger with sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces  On Friday Aug. 17th, Evan (the youngest) married Adrianne Martin.  I am very excited to have her in the family.  I love weddings, So very thankful for my family. Cindy Loo Whoo I just watched "The Help".  I don't know what other people took from it but the thing that had the biggest impression on me was that I am extremely blessed that I get to raise my own kids.  I get to tell them how wonderful, beautiful, smart, funny, kind, talented, creative, and all the other things they are every day.  Even when they are in daycare, I still get them up, dress them, tell them how much I miss them while I am gone. I love the fact that when I walk in the room, my kids are happy to see me.   That when Jareth is tired he wants to sit in mommy's lap and snuggle.  How when Laurana falls down she comes to me to tend her wounds. What I didn't do it :) I am glad that Brad is a part of my family.  He is a dad that plays with the kids, tells them how wonderful they are.    I love that Daddy has to chase the "lions" from her room every night.  Tonight brad isn't home and she came out and said ...

A wonderful girls night.  A couple weeks ago, Andi Moore, Brittany Mauck, Shelley Tucker, Jordan O'dounghue and I went to Summerfest.  (what use to be called Shakespeare in the park) at theLexington arboretum.  They were preforming the musical Legally Blonde.  I haven't had that much fun at a muscail in a while. (probably cause I havent' been to a musical in 3 years. :). The singing was okay, the dancing was okay, and the live music was hit or miss, but over all I really enjoyed myself.  I have now listened to and learned many of the songs.  and Laurana always asks for "what you want" mommy. :)
